Such great suggestions.
May I may a suggestion about HEPA air cleaners, please? Get them. Use them. Sometimes the outside of unit needs to be vacuumed. Just keep an eye on it. We had 3 Austin Air HEPA units, and a large IQ Air cleaner. Filters are expensive for all. But worth your health. We also found a local company (so lucky!) that made HEPA filters for our ac/h, fraction of cost of box stores. We changed those filters every 3 weeks. My skin would get red, I would get agitated when it was time for filter to be changed. Couldn’t breathe either.
Pay attention to your symptoms. Don’t take “ I can’t help you” for an answer (been there, done that). I was so miserable I could hardly handle it. Be aggressive with your doctor. Get plants to help! Good luck!

Great write up. My journey began while trying to find relief of a stuffed up nose especially at night. It significantly affected my sleep. I had nose surgery which helped overall but didnt alleviate all of the stuffiness. I chose the rush option and had my last build up shot today. I found your article searching for drowsiness, because for about 30 minutes I feel noticeably tired after my shot and hadnt seen that as a possible symptom before. I’m hoping my stuffy nose continues to improve, although it is better than before I started taking shots.

In reply to carol. Glad I found this article. I have been doing sublingual immunotherapy for allergies for about a month. I am so fatigued all the time. With drops you do them every other day and I feel exhausted day after day. I am sure it is thr drops but going to call the allergist and mention it. I hope it eventually subsides.

I am a retired HVAC engineer and this is some great information, particularly the table with the comparative ratings of filters, but I do have a cautionary note. A number of years back I installed a high end 3M filter in my home system. During a period of high air conditioner use the coil froze over. I readily recognized my error. The fan in my home system did not have the pressure required to move an adequate amount of air through the high efficiency 3M filter. The higher efficiency filters have a higher pressure drop and many home systems may not be able to overcome the added resistance. Since then I have used MERV 8 filters with no problems, but a MERV 8 filter is unlikely to be adequate in removing the allergens your typical reader is trying to address. In my household we do not have individuals with the allergen issues, so MERV 8 has been adequate for us.

In reply to Vee. I'm in the process of disinfecting & trying to kill eggs & other pests in my home. Spider mites is 1. Ive been mixing 50%vinegar, 50%rubbing alcohol & an ounce of color safe bleach. with 5- 10 drops of tea tree oil in a 1 Liter spray bottle. Us as a contact Spray for pest & bugs u can see. Great To clean dust & mites & fecal matter. spray & vac a few days after. Spray carpeted areas, shelves baseboards, cracks, floors, closets, cupboards, bed seems, under bed on floor & box spring, mattress, sofa too. Have not seen anything live after. Use 100% allergen vacuum bags to o. Vacuum mattress & sides of box spring mthly, flip every 3 & repeat the spray... clean sheets once a wk in hot water & dry on hottest setting.

ry interesting. My son went to an allergist recently because his excema is really flaring up. turns out its environemental. He was told to take an antihistamine daily plus get encased allergy cover for his bed. do you have any other ideas he could try. thank you
